Alarming Footage Reveals Point Officers Are Stabbed in Unexpected Assault
A ranking policeman who rushed to the help of a colleague who was ambushed by a knifeman received the Royal Recognition for Courage.
Sgt Tim Ansell struggled against 27-year-old Jacob Brown following he placed a weapon to the neck of his partner Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown initiated the assault as the policemen and their partner, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a motorist after a vehicle incident in that location in July 2023.
Brown knifed and cut both Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft stunned him with a Taser.
"Policeman stabbed," the officer stated over his radio.
Bodyworn and dashcam recording released by the police department depicted Brown, who was dressed in dark clothing with a hood up, approach to Sergeant Foster from the rear with a weapon extended.
He collided with the policeman who lost balance and fell to the ground, before Sergeant Ansell jumped in and struggled to restrain him to the ground even though being repeatedly struck with the blade.
Police Constable Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and sought a open target, concluding the struggle to an finish.
Sergeant Ansell was heard stating: "Please provide assistance on my neck now, I've been stabbed in the throat."
Sgt Ansell sustained two open wounds to his neck and additional wounds to his limbs and body, whereas Sergeant Foster suffered slash wounds.
The department reported Sgt Foster used his bare hands to stem his fellow officer's blood loss before medical personnel came.
The latest award comes after the law enforcement team were granted departmental Bravery Awards in late 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the regional union branch in April 2024.
They additionally received a Regional Valor Recognition in July 2024.
"The actions of all three officers eventually saved one another and meant no civilians endured any injuries."
Brown was given to an psychiatric detention in early 2024, as stated by officials.
