Ex- NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is traveling to Miami to address an attempted murder allegation related to a incident that happened in May, as his counsel submitting a not guilty plea on his behalf.

Detention records in Essex County, New Jersey, reveal that Brown was released on Tuesday early for his relocation to Florida. Brown, one of the most popular figures in the National Football League, had relinquished transfer to Florida from New Jersey, in which he was held after being apprehended in the city of Dubai.

Brown’s attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, stated in an email that he has previously lodged a formal innocent declaration to the murder attempt allegation. Brown could be in a Miami court as early as Wednesday early for a bail proceeding, Eiglarsh stated.

Based on his detention warrant, Brown is alleged of grabbing a handgun from a security guard after a public figure boxing event in May and shooting multiple rounds at a man he had fought with earlier. The reported victim, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, informed investigators that a bullet touched his throat.

Eiglarsh said that Brown was merely defending himself from Nantambu.

“The steps he was forced to take were solely in self-defense against the reported victim’s hostile actions. Brown was assaulted that night and responded within his lawful entitlement to protect himself,” Eiglarsh stated.

Brown was not promptly detained because originally officers did not recognize Nantambu as a victim. It only afterward in May that Nantambu gave a complete account about the event to police and named Brown as the perpetrator, the affidavit says.

From his digital content, Brown had been residing in Dubai for a number of period. In a update after the confrontation, Brown stated he was defending himself because he was “assaulted by numerous persons who sought to take my valuables and inflict personal damage to me.”

A category two attempted murder charge in the state of Florida carries a highest 15-year incarceration penalty and up to a $10,000 penalty in the case of a finding.

Brown has faced multiple judicial problems over the period. He before had been charged of assault of a truck driver, various abuse accusations, failure to pay family payments and additional incidents.
